Join me for an upbeat, but gentle, Saturday yoga session once a month at The Tetley art gallery in central Leeds, that will help you start your weekend feeling relaxed.

This is fun, relaxing Dru Yoga suitable for all body types and levels of experience. The yoga classes will draw on themes from The Tetley’s exhibition programme and set to carefully crafted playlists.

1. Where is the class held?

Classes are held in the unique City Workshop, on the 2nd floor of The Tetley art gallery in Leeds.

Entry to The Tetley pre-opening is via a side-door. When you have booked the class you will receive an email 24-hours before with details on how to access the building.

The Tetley is easily accessible by public transport. It is a 10 minute walk from both Leeds Train Station and Leeds Bus Station, and 5 minutes from Leeds Trinity. It has a large paying car park (The Brewery Car Park) and plenty of bike racks.

2. How much does it cost?

Single class drop-in £12

3. Do I need to book?

Yes. I ask for advance online booking for all my classes.


Booking ahead is a great way for you to commit to your yoga practice. It is also essential for me to know who is coming, and to make sure no-one is turned away if the class is full.

Classes tend to be busier at certain times of year. If the class you want to attend is full, please add yourself to the waiting list as spots frequently come available last-minute.

4. What should I expect?

Everyone is welcome; I teach a fully instructed class that doesn’t require any prior knowledge of yoga or flexibility (so great for all levels, especially beginners).

My classes have been described like this: “Dru Yoga seems to be all about restoration and inclusiveness. Movements are slow, deliberate and therapeutic, and focus is very much on establishing a mind-body connection to enhance overall feelings of relaxation. You are encouraged to reach the stage you are able to, working with and accepting your abilities”

And the classes will evolve in response to those that come along, so take part and experience a new way to stretch and relax.

5. What is Dru Yoga?

Dru Yoga is a style of Hatha Yoga, which is influenced by Tai Chi and Qi Gong, Pilates, Isolated Active Stretching and other techniques to keep the body and mind healthy and strong, to build resilience inside and out.

6. Who can attend this yoga class?

Classes are open to all. They are inclusive of ALL body types, genders and levels of fitness. Beginners, including those who have never tried yoga before, are very welcome. Don’t worry if you are tight, tired or nervous – this is a friendly, body positive class that is non-judgemental and non-competitive.

If you have practiced yoga before you are also very welcome to the class. As well as using physical asana, Dru Yoga works with the mental, emotional and spiritual layers of yoga.

The practice can bring an alternative perspective to an existing yoga practice. It can sit very comfortably alongside other traditions, particularly those of a more physical nature, or allow you to take a new direction into this very rich and layered approach.

The class is also open to those with health challenges, who are pregnant or post-natal. It is vital that you inform me in advance if you have any current or chronic health issues, are pregnant or post-natal so alternative options can be prepared for some exercises in the class.

7. It's my first yoga class, is that OK?

Excellent news! If this is your first, or one of your first, yoga classes then I am absolutely thrilled you are coming. This page should fill you in on what you need to know, and here are some answers to FAQs you might have before your first class with me.

8. I'm not flexible, can I come to yoga?

It doesn’t matter if you are flexible or not. Truly it doesn’t. Flexibility is a benefit brought about by yoga, not a pre-requisite for practising it. You don’t need to be able to touch your toes, heck you don’t even need to be able to reach your knees.

Equally, if you are hyper-mobile I can work with you to build strength and not over-stretch.
