“Remember, Christmas is a holiday not a deadline!”. This made me chuckle when it appeared in my Facebook timeline a few days ago. Whether you find this the season to be jolly, or the season to be a bit fraught, then there is one yoga pose that will suit you – Flowing (Christmas) Tree!
This Dru Yoga pose is based on a yoga ‘Master Posture’ called Vrksasana (Tree) but with a beautiful flow that really challenges focus and balance. If you need a bit more space, to calm down or perhaps feel present and balanced again after travelling, then Flowing Tree is really helpful.
Additionally Flowing Tree uses lots of muscles in the legs, especially the gluteus medius in the buttocks. It works on strengthening the pelvic floor and other core muscles, as well as aligning the spine and increasing flexibility in the joints – so it makes you feel physically stronger, and ready to party! A few minutes working with this pose can lay down the foundations for a fun night on the dance floor at the Christmas party…
And to make it extra special I have a video to guide you through Flowing Tree. The video was filmed in the heart of the Sierras of Tejeda Natural Park whilst I was away in the summer for the Lucyoga/Get Lost Retreats holiday. So as well as a bit of festive cheer you get some sunshine too!
